Del Mar Seafoods is a dominant player in the Oregon and California fishing industry. They freeze 80 million pounds of fish a year for export globally.

In June 2007 Bowman Refrigeration completed the commissioning of a blast freezing and cold storage plant for Del Mar's operation in Astoria, Oregon. The plant is designed to blast freeze 125 tons of sardines per day when working one shift. The separate cold storage holds 400 tons at -20F.
