Coastal Transportation - Coastal ProgressCoastal Transportation of Seattle, WA, awarded a contract to Bowman Refrigeration to increase the capacity of the M/V Coastal Progress. This is the second in a series of upgrades to the Coastal Transportation fleet. The first vessel conversion commenced in July 2010 with the completion date of the last vessel slated for June 2012.
Given the extremely rough duty of break-bulk cargo handling, it has been Coastal’s policy to use convection coils, as they are far more rugged than forced air evaporators. They have no moving parts or electrical components that might fail or require access when the ship is at sea with a full cargo hold. We provided marine duty galvanized steel convection coils manufactured locally by Cold Tech, Inc. to meet their demanding requirements. This type of conversion work requires performing hot work in close proximity to highly flammable polyurethane foam, and therefore requires strict adherence to safety procedures. Bowman Refrigeration has a great deal of experience and an excellent track record with this type of work, and has played an active role in setting the standard for safe practices in hazardous locations. |
